Almost every year, since 2005, we have celebrated Kristen's birthday on Feb 3rd, in Honduras. Sometimes with a pinata, sometimes with birthday cake from the bakery next door in Choluteca, sometimes with a piece of cake from a store called "A Piece of Cake" in the ATL airport, sometimes with a mariachi band playing in the middle if the street, and always with great love, great fun, and great admiration for all that she has meant to this ministry. Kristen is home with her little man Jackson this year but we miss her and wish her a happy birthday.
One of the many traditions that Kristen started was to inscribe this blessing: "Dios bendiga este hogar", God bless this home. Here is a photo of Kristen, Rachael (whom we are also anxiously awaiting to return to Honduras), and Maida (our Honduran interpreter) from 2014.
So in Kristen's honor, we built this step, used the same inscription, and placed the children's feet and hand prints for the family whose yard we are using while building the house for Amalia.
